Community Activism
Projects to Make a Difference
We encourage students to get involved and create a community activism project. The iMatter app helps to discover projects that will make the most difference in your school or community. These are two projects that Kids vs Global Warming has initiated and supports.
We believe that action without science is ineffective
science without action is incomplete
Sea Level Awareness Project
SLAP is a community activist project designed to raise awareness of sea level rise in coastal cities.
We installed the first nine poles on June 29th, 2008, along the beach promenade in Ventura and we had an awesome event with youth bands, local speakers, and a youth global warming rally down California street.
We are expanding this project through groups of youth throughout the coasts in California, DC and NY. If you live in a coastal community and want to get involved, contact us...we’re creating a youth-driven curriculum film and you can be part of the documentary!
Planting Trees to Save the Earth!
We encourage all new teams to plant trees at their school to make their commitment to fighting global warming something concrete and real.
Imagine how awesome that would be if every school in our country planted 10 trees?
We are partnering with Eco-Gear, an awesome organic/recycled totally green tee shirt company in Canada. They sell tee shirts and donate money to buy trees for GWATs to plant. It works out for everyone. We get to save the planet together!
