Dr James Hansen Signs Declaration

James Hansen Signs Declaration!

The highlight of my week in New York (besides the holy glass temple of Apple Store on 5th Avenue which I went to at 1 am...because I could!) was meeting James Hansen, who is the Director of NASA’s Goddard Center for Science and Technology.  If you don’t know who he is, you’ve never seen my presentation because I talk about him every time.

He’s like the leading climatologist who has been brave enough to raise his voice to politicians and oil lobbyists who want to shut down all talk that humans cause global warming.  The Bush Administration even edited his report a few years ago, trying to hide the truth.  That has GOT to be illegal, right?  Wow.

So, anyway, I got to go to the NASA office in NYC, and hang out with James Hansen for a couple hours!  Lemme tell you that he is so cool.  He is real and calm and easy going and brilliant and caring.

He looked through our Declaration and gave some minor edits, but he really liked it!  And was happy to sign it, on behalf of his grandchildren (he has 3...I got to see their photos!)

He said that his grandchildren keep him going when he is discouraged by the stupidness and denial and politics.  I think that’s true for a lot of adults.

BTW, if you want to sign the Declaration, the ClimateEducation.org website is going to allow you to sign it online pretty soon!
